Job Description and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be placed within the Foreign Languages department and will be primarily responsible for teaching French to secondary-level students studying for their A Levels. Key responsibilities include:

• Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and effective French language lessons for A Level students, aligned with the British curriculum or its international equivalent.
• Developing and implementing teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of students, promoting language proficiency across all skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
• Preparing and designing innovative teaching materials and supportive technological resources.
• Regularly assessing student progress through assignments, quizzes, mock exams, and providing constructive feedback to support their academic development.
• Monitoring and tracking student performance and preparing periodic reports for parents and school administration.
• Contributing to the wider school life by participating in extracurricular activities related to French language and culture.
• Maintaining high behavioral standards in the classroom and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Participating in departmental meetings and continuous professional development to stay abreast of best educational practices.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in French, French Literature, Linguistics, or a closely related field. A Master's degree or advanced teaching qualifications will be a distinct advantage.
• Professional Qualification: A recognized teaching certification (e.g., PGCE, Teaching License, or equivalent) qualifying you to teach in secondary schools.
• Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 3-5 years in teaching French at A Level or its equivalent (e.g., IB Higher Level) within an international school setting.
• Curriculum Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the A Level French curriculum and its assessment mechanisms.
• Language Skills: Full fluency in French (native or C2 level) and excellent command of English as the language of communication and operation.
• Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students from diverse cultural backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, adaptable, and able to work collaboratively within a team.
