Job Description

The appointed Accountant will be part of the Finance department and will be responsible for a range of accounting and financial tasks supporting the firm's engineering consultancy operations. He/She will work within a professional finance team to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.

Key expected responsibilities include:

• Preparing and recording daily journal entries and ledger accounts.
• Assisting in the preparation of periodic financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual).
• Managing accounts receivable (client invoices) and accounts payable (vendor invoices), and following up on collections and payments.
• Performing regular bank reconciliations.
• Assisting in budget preparation and monitoring, and analytical financial reporting.
• Ensuring compliance with the company's internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Collaborating with other departments (e.g., Projects, Procurement) to provide necessary financial support.
• Assisting with internal and external audit processes as required.
• Utilizing accounting and financial software (e.g., ERP) proficiently.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

Academic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A recognized professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA, ACCA) will be a strong added advantage.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in an accounting role.
• Previous experience in the engineering, construction, or professional consultancy sector is a significant advantage.
• Proven experience handling full cycle accounting and bookkeeping.

Personal and Technical Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
• Hands-on experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for accounting.
• In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
• Integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
