Job Overview
The Accounting Manager will hold a pivotal role within the company's administrative structure, serving as the direct leader and overseer of the entire accounting department. This role will focus on ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, compliance with local and international regulations, and providing strategic financial insights that support the growth and objectives of Aqwat For Trading & Contracting LLC.
Key Expected Responsibilities & Duties
- Leadership & Supervision: Lead and guide the accounting team, delegate tasks, and ensure a productive and collaborative work environment.
- Financial Management: Oversee all daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, and payroll.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely periodic financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual). Provide analytical reports to senior management.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and monitor performance against set financial targets.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure all accounting and financial practices comply with Omani laws, regulations, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Coordinate with external auditors during audit processes.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and forecast the company's cash flow to ensure liquidity for operations.
- Contracting-Specific Operations: Familiarity with accounting requirements for contracting projects (e.g., contract accounting, project costing, revenue recognition).
- Systems Development: Contribute to developing and improving internal accounting policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and control.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Academic Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CMA, CPA, ACCA) are a significant advantage.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years of proven experience in a leadership role (Accounting Manager or Financial Supervisor). Prior experience in the trading, contracting, or a similar sector is a critical advantage.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge: Deep knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), tax laws, and commercial regulations in the Sultanate of Oman.
- Soft Skills: Leadership abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English. Strong analytical and decision-making skills. High levels of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional integrity.
