The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) is inviting applications for the position of Advisor Security & Crisis Management at its headquarters in Muscat. This role represents a distinguished career opportunity for seasoned professionals to join a leading national entity that manages a diversified investment portfolio and contributes to the Sultanate's economic development.

Job Overview

The appointed Advisor will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the assets and interests of the Omani investment authority. This individual will be the primary lead in designing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive security and crisis management strategy and framework. The position aims to ensure business continuity and effective preparedness for any potential emergency or threat, be it security-related, logistical, or reputational.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Strategy Development: Lead the process of establishing and regularly updating the authority's overarching Security and Crisis Management strategy, aligning with international best practices and local regulations.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct periodic and thorough risk assessments focusing on security threats and crisis-related risks that could impact the authority's operations and investments.
  • Policy & Procedure Formulation: Develop clear, detailed policies and procedures for emergency/crisis response, physical security, and information security.
  • Emergency Planning: Design effective response and intervention plans for various crisis scenarios, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities for involved teams.
  • Business Continuity: Work to ensure the existence of robust Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) to maintain vital operations under disruptive circumstances.
  • Training & Awareness: Organize and implement training programs, workshops, and practical drills (simulations) for authority staff to enhance preparedness and response capabilities.
  • External Coordination: Act as the liaison and coordination point with relevant government entities (such as Police, Civil Defence) and external specialists in security and crisis management.
  • Review & Improvement: Review and analyze past incidents or threats to formulate improvement recommendations to prevent recurrence or mitigate impact.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Security Management, Emergency & Crisis Management, Police Sciences, or Public Administration. A higher degree (Master’s) or relevant international professional certifications (e.g., CPP, CBCP) is highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of practical experience in corporate security or crisis management, with a significant portion in advisory or leadership roles. Experience within the government sector, large financial institutions, or investment management is a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, physical security, fundamental cybersecurity, and business continuity frameworks (e.g., ISO 22301).
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and foresight skills to anticipate risks and plan proactively.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) for reporting to senior management.
    • Leadership skills and the ability to work under pressure and make decisions during crises.
    • Full proficiency in both Arabic and English languages.
  • Character: High integrity, trustworthiness, and the ability to handle sensitive information with utmost confidentiality.
