Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The selected specialist will be integrated into a comprehensive team working on the design, implementation, and monitoring of air pollution control systems. The primary responsibilities for this role include:
- Assessment and Analysis: Conduct detailed assessments of air pollutant emission sources in industrial and commercial facilities. Analyze air quality and identify key pollutants (such as particulate matter, nitrogen and sulfur oxides, volatile organic compounds).
- Design and Engineering: Design and specify technical requirements for appropriate air filtration and emission control systems, such as baghouses, scrubbers, electrostatic precipitators (ESPs), and HEPA/ULPA filters.
- Implementation Oversight: Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of pollution control systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and local/international standards.
- Maintenance and Optimization: Develop and implement preventive and periodic maintenance plans for filtration systems. Analyze the performance of existing systems and propose improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure the facility's full compliance with environmental regulations and standards issued by the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) and other relevant authorities in the Kingdom. Prepare required technical and environmental reports.
- Technical Support and Training: Provide technical support and guidance to operation and maintenance technicians. Contribute to developing training programs to raise awareness of environmentally friendly practices.
Qualifications and Core Requirements
To be a qualified candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or any directly related field in air pollution control.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the design, operation, or maintenance of air pollution control and filtration systems, preferably within the industrial sector (e.g., petrochemicals, power generation, manufacturing).
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of air treatment and emission control technologies and systems (filtration, scrubbing, adsorption, absorption). Familiarity with engineering design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Saudi environmental regulations and relevant international standards (e.g., US EPA or EU standards).
- Personal Skills: Strong analytical and investigative skills. Ability to work within a team and in a multi-disciplinary environment. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Language: Proficiency in both Arabic and English, spoken and written.
