Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Licensed Technician will be integrated into Gulf Air's Maintenance and Engineering team, with core responsibilities focused on ensuring aircraft airworthiness and safety. Primary duties include:
- Performing scheduled (routine and non-routine) inspections on aircraft as per manufacturer-recommended programs and regulatory requirements.
- Executing maintenance, repair, and modification tasks on aircraft structures, engines, mechanical, electrical/avionics, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnosing technical faults, troubleshooting, and performing appropriate repairs.
- Certifying aircraft for release to service (Certificate of Release to Service - CRS) within the scope of the technician's license privileges, confirming work was completed to approved standards.
- Strictly adhering to all safety procedures in the hangar and airport ramp areas.
- Accurately documenting all maintenance and repair work in the aircraft technical logs in compliance with Civil Aviation Authority regulations.
- Working collaboratively with engineers and other technicians to ensure tasks are completed on time without compromising quality.
- Participating in continuous training programs to stay updated with the latest technologies and procedures in aircraft maintenance.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this specialized technical role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: A diploma or degree in Aircraft Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance, or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
- Licensing: Must hold a valid aircraft maintenance license issued by a relevant Civil Aviation Authority. Preference will be given to holders of a Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs (BCAA) license or an equivalent license from a European authority (EASA Part-66) or the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA A&P) with transferability potential.
- Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in aircraft maintenance, preferably on modern fleet types such as Airbus (A320neo, A321) or Boeing (B787, B777). Previous experience with commercial airlines is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities, and proficiency in using specialized maintenance tools and measuring equipment.
- Personal Skills: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and within a team, strict adherence to safety culture, and good communication skills.
- Other Requirements: Proficiency in written and spoken English (the primary language for technical documentation). Knowledge of Arabic may be an additional advantage.
