Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Rooms will play a pivotal role in managing and operating the Rooms Division within the hotel. This position works closely with the Director of Rooms and other leaders to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of all room management and guest service operations. The core responsibilities of this leadership role include:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Directly supervise department heads within the Rooms Division (such as Front Office, Concierge, Housekeeping, and Guest Services) and guide them to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Quality Assurance: Continuously monitor and evaluate service standards and operational performance to ensure compliance with stringent Marriott International brand standards and local hotel protocols.
  • Daily Operations Management: Contribute to the planning and organization of the daily operations of the Rooms Division, including managing occupancy flows, coordinating check-in/check-out processes, and handling special guest requests.
  • Team Training and Development: Participate in identifying training needs for the Rooms Division team and implement developmental programs to enhance their skills and knowledge, directly impacting guest satisfaction.
  • Guest Communication: Proactively and professionally handle complex guest complaints or inquiries, taking appropriate corrective actions to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
  • Financial Management: Assist in preparing budgets for the Rooms Division and monitor expenses, contributing to financial goals through cost control and revenue optimization initiatives.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other hotel departments such as Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, and Engineering to ensure a seamless and integrated guest experience.

Required Qualifications and Skills

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role at Marriott, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in supervisory or leadership roles within the Rooms Division of a luxury hotel or international resort. Previous experience with Marriott International or other major global hotel groups is a significant advantage.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related business field. Extensive proven experience and a track record of success may compensate for formal education.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and drive results through a diverse team. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written).
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth familiarity with hotel reservation systems (e.g., Opera) and Property Management Systems (PMS), along with strong knowledge of luxury hotel service and operational standards.
  • Service Orientation and Attention to Detail: A genuine passion for delivering exceptional hospitality with a meticulous eye for the details that create memorable guest experiences.
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure: Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage priorities and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Language: Full professional proficiency in English, both spoken and written. Proficiency in Arabic is a strong asset in the Saudi Arabian job market.
