Job Overview

The Assistant Manager Finance will hold a pivotal role in supporting and managing the financial operations of the company. They will work closely with the Finance Manager and the accounting team to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all financial reporting and processes. This position is ideal for individuals with strong analytical acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to perform under pressure to meet the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Based on the nature of the role, the expected responsibilities of the Assistant Manager Finance include:

  • Contributing to the preparation and analysis of periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).
  • Supporting the budgeting, forecasting processes, and monitoring performance against them.
  • Overseeing certain aspects of daily accounting operations and ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in ensuring adherence to local regulatory requirements (e.g., Oman Capital Market Authority) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Analyzing financial data and providing management insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Supporting internal and external audit processes and providing required documentation.
  • Supervising, training, and mentoring junior members of the finance team.
  • Participating in finance department projects and initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Skills

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:

Academic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (Finance major) from an accredited university.
  • A professional certification (such as CMA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) will be a significant advantage and is often a key requirement.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of practical experience in finance or accounting, with progressive roles of increasing responsibility.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a finance team.
  • Experience in a large corporate or financial institution environment is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local Omani practices.

Personal and Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Hands-on experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Exceptional analytical and investigative skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and reporting skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • High integrity and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work towards deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
