Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the logistics and technical support team within a dynamic aviation environment. Core responsibilities include:
- Inventory Management: Overseeing stock levels of aircraft spare parts, consumables, specialized tools, and ground support equipment. This involves accurate tracking of quantities, serial numbers, and part numbers.
- Stock/Warehouse Control: Organizing and storing materials safely and efficiently in accordance with international standards (such as ICAO or company standards), considering factors like heat sensitivity, compatibility, and accessibility.
- Receiving & Inspecting Goods: Receiving new shipments, verifying their conformity with purchase orders and technical specifications, and reporting any damage or shortages.
- Issuing Materials: Distributing requested spare parts and materials to maintenance teams and technicians based on authorized work orders, ensuring all paperwork and electronic transactions are completed accurately.
- Periodic Stocktaking: Participating in regular stock-taking exercises (annual inventory, cycle counts) to reconcile physical stock with system records and identify reasons for any discrepancies.
- Record Keeping: Promptly and accurately updating inventory management systems (manual or electronic) to record all receipts, issues, and transfers.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhering to warehouse safety protocols, handling hazardous materials (if applicable) correctly, and ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
To be a successful candidate for this position, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma or qualification in fields such as Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehouse Management, or a related area. Formal education may be substituted with substantial proven practical experience.
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of prior experience in a similar role (Stores Assistant, Storekeeper, Inventory Controller). Experience within the aviation, engineering maintenance, or industrial/technical environments is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Practical knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related software.
- Ability to read and understand parts catalogs, invoices, and work orders.
- Basic knowledge of technical materials classification and storage.
- Personal Skills:
- Accuracy & Attention to Detail: Critical due to the safety-sensitive nature of the materials handled.
- Excellent Organizational Skills: To manage warehouse space and material flow efficiently.
- Teamwork & Communication: Ability to work within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues in maintenance and procurement departments.
