Job Overview and Key Responsibilities

The Business Engagement Lead will serve as the central nexus and primary interface for Qatar Foundation in its interactions with private sector business partners, locally, regionally, and internationally. The holder of this position is responsible for building, nurturing, and managing strategic, mutually beneficial relationships.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Engagement Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive business engagement strategy aligned with Qatar Foundation's overarching strategic goals and mission.
  • Strategic Relationship Management: Identify, pitch, and forge new partnerships with leading companies in the private sector, focusing on areas of education, R&D, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
  • Fostering Collaboration: Act as a bridge between various internal QF departments (e.g., universities, research centers, community initiatives) and business partners to design and implement joint programs and projects.
  • Lead Negotiations: Lead the negotiation process for partnership agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), ensuring maximum value for the Foundation and all stakeholders.
  • Market Analysis & Opportunity Identification: Monitor market and sector trends to identify new and innovative partnership opportunities that support the Foundation's long-term vision.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed periodic reports on the performance of existing partnerships and provide recommendations for their improvement or scaling.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Qatar Foundation is seeking candidates with deep practical experience and a genuine passion for building bridges between the academic/non-profit world and the dynamic business sector.

Essential Requirements:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Relations, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) is a strong advantage.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in business development, corporate relationship management, strategic sales, or partnership management, with a significant portion gained in an international or regional context.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead initiatives, manage complex multi-stakeholder projects, and work independently while maintaining a team spirit.
  • Communication & Negotiation Skills: Excellence in communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills in both English and Arabic (spoken and written), with the ability to deliver compelling presentations to senior executives.
  • Strategic Understanding: Deep understanding of the business landscape in Qatar and the GCC, with good knowledge of sectors such as energy, technology, financial services, and healthcare.
  • Professional Network: An existing and developed professional network with senior officials in major corporations is a significant advantage.
