Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The appointed Buying Manager will undertake a range of core duties, including but not limited to:
- Developing and Implementing Procurement Strategy: Formulating comprehensive procurement plans and strategies aligned with the overall business objectives and financial sustainability of the group.
- Managing the End-to-End Procurement Cycle: Overseeing the entire process from needs identification and purchase requisitions, through supplier sourcing and negotiation, to purchase order issuance and receipt follow-up.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Researching and evaluating new suppliers, building long-term strategic partnerships with key vendors, and conducting regular performance reviews to ensure compliance with quality, delivery, and contractual agreements.
- Cost Control and Negotiation: Leading contract negotiations with suppliers to secure the best value (price, quality, payment terms, services), contributing to cost reduction and profit margin improvement.
- Ensuring Quality and Compliance: Guaranteeing that all purchased materials and goods meet required specifications and standards, and complying with internal policies, procedures, and local laws and regulations.
- Market and Inventory Analysis: Monitoring market trends and raw material prices, analyzing inventory data to forecast demand and minimize risks of stock-outs or overstocking.
- Team Leadership: Supervising the procurement team (if applicable), providing training and guidance to help them achieve departmental goals.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional procurement certifications (e.g., CIPS) will be a strong advantage.
- Work Experience: Proven experience of at least 5 to 7 years in procurement or supply chain management, with a progression into leadership roles. Experience in the retail, FMCG, or diversified trading group sectors is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in computer applications and MS Office, with hands-on experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and procurement software.
- Personal Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills.
- High analytical ability to assess data and make decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
- Strong leadership and team management/motivation capabilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- High degree of integrity and professional ethics.
