Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Chef de Cuisine holds the ultimate leadership position in the kitchen, bearing full responsibility for all aspects of its operation. The successful candidate will be the cornerstone in maintaining the restaurant's exceptional reputation and ensuring complete guest satisfaction.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Leadership & Management: Full oversight of the entire kitchen brigade (Chefs, Cooks, Commis). Leading, motivating, and managing the team to work in a collaborative and professional environment.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensuring the kitchen operates at the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and safety (e.g., HACCP standards). Supervising the preparation of all dishes to align with Anantara's stringent specifications and recipe accuracy.
  • Creative & Financial Stewardship: Developing innovative and appealing menus that reflect the Anantara philosophy and meet the expectations of an international clientele. Contributing to the kitchen's financial goals through effective cost control, inventory and purchasing management, and waste reduction.
  • Quality Assurance & Consistency: Conducting rigorous inspections of incoming ingredients for quality. Monitoring and tasting dishes before service to guarantee consistency and excellence in every plate.
  • Development & Training: Identifying training needs within the kitchen team and implementing development programs to enhance their skills. Fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the culinary team.

Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven Track Record: Minimum of 5 to 7 years of culinary experience, with at least 2 to 3 years in a similar leadership role (Chef de Cuisine, Executive Chef) within luxury hotel kitchens or high-end restaurants.
  • Educational Background: A diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management from a recognized institution is a significant advantage.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team under the pressure of a fast-paced kitchen environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of international cuisines, cost management, and food safety & sanitation procedures. Familiarity with Arabic cuisine or world cuisines is a valuable asset in the Omani market.
