Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will hold a seat on the company's top executive team and will be directly responsible for leading and managing all financial and economic aspects of Petroleum Development Oman. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Developing and executing the company's comprehensive financial strategy in alignment with its long-term business objectives and Oman's energy strategy.
- Capital and Investment Management: Overseeing capital planning, analyzing major investments, and making critical financial decisions related to mega-projects in exploration, production, and development.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Leading the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, and providing in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making at the Board and Executive Committee level.
- Financial Risk Management: Establishing and implementing robust frameworks for managing financial risks, including market, credit, and currency risks.
- Investor and Stakeholder Relations: Representing the company to investors, key shareholders (including the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and international partners), financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensuring full compliance with all International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), local and international regulations, and preparing accurate and timely financial reports.
- Team Leadership: Guiding and developing a large, multidisciplinary finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the finance department.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be eligible for this top-tier executive role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. A Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or a professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA) is a significant advantage and often essential.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 15 to 20 years of progressive experience in finance, with a strong focus on the oil and gas or energy sector. This must include at least 8 to 10 years in senior financial leadership roles (e.g., Vice President of Finance, CFO of a major division, or former CFO of a similarly sized organization).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), corporate finance, financial engineering, major project analysis, and treasury management. Experience with complex partnerships and Joint Ventures is a critical advantage.
- Leadership Skills: A proven track record of leading large, diverse teams and communicating effectively with C-Suite executives and Board members.
- Analytical & Strategic Skills: High-level strategic thinking with exceptional ability to analyze complex data and make impactful financial decisions.
- Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic will be a strong additional asset.
