Job Description and Key Responsibilities

Core responsibilities are expected to include:

• Leadership and Supervision: Leading and managing engineering and maintenance teams across multiple hotel properties (the cluster). This includes recruitment, training, professional development, and ensuring high performance and motivation within the teams.
• Financial and Budget Management: Preparing and monitoring annual engineering budgets for the hotel cluster, controlling operational expenditures, and ensuring optimal utilization of financial and physical resources.
• Proactive Maintenance and Planning: Developing and implementing comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all critical hotel systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety systems, and mechanical equipment.
• Project Management and Renovations: Planning and overseeing capital renovation projects, facility refurbishments, and upgrades, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to daily hotel operations.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensuring all hotels within the cluster fully comply with local and international regulations concerning safety, health, and the environment. Conducting regular audits and inspections.
• Sustainability and Efficiency: Leading sustainability initiatives and energy/water conservation programs across the cluster, seeking innovative solutions to reduce environmental impact and operational costs.
• Vendor and Contractor Management: Selecting and evaluating the performance of external suppliers and contractors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the quality of services provided.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or equivalent) from an accredited university. Advanced or specialized certifications in Facilities Management will be a distinct advantage.
• Work Experience: A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in engineering and facilities management, with a strong focus on the hotel or hospitality sector. This must include at least 3 years in a similar leadership role (Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering) at a five-star hotel or a hotel cluster.
• Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of complex hotel building systems, construction systems, safety codes, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Leadership and Personal Skills:
  • Excellent leadership and managerial abilities with experience managing multiple teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and budget management.
• Professional Certifications: International certifications in Facilities Management (e.g., CFM), Occupational Health & Safety, or Energy Management are highly desirable and provide a competitive edge.
