Consultant Medical Oncologist - Doha, Qatar

Job Description and Responsibilities
The successful consultant will hold a leadership position within the Oncology Department and will be responsible for providing specialized and comprehensive medical care to adult patients with malignant oncological diseases. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, specialist nurses, and clinical pharmacists.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Diagnosing and developing comprehensive, personalized treatment plans for cancer patients, utilizing the latest evidence-based international protocols.
- Prescribing and managing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and hormonal treatments.
- Closely monitoring patients during treatment and effectively managing side effects.
- Participating in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings to discuss complex patient cases and make collective treatment decisions.
- Supervising resident doctors and medical students, providing professional guidance and mentorship.
- Contributing to continuous quality improvement and safety initiatives within the department.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with institutional standards and local regulations.
- Duties may also include involvement in clinical research and trials if available at the institution.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be eligible for this leadership opportunity, you must meet the following high professional standards:
- Educational Qualification: A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from a recognized university.
- Specialization and Certification: Completion of an accredited specialist training program in Medical Oncology. Board Certification/Fellowship in Medical Oncology from a GCC country (e.g., Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE) or a globally recognized prestigious body (such as American, British, Canadian, or Australian Fellowship in the specialty) is an essential requirement.
- Licensing: Must hold a valid medical practice license from a Gulf country, or be eligible to obtain a license from the Qatar Supreme Council of Health/Ministry of Public Health.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of post-certification practical experience, with a proven track record of practicing medical oncology in a major academic hospital or cancer center.
- Personal Skills: Exceptional communication and patient management skills, with the ability to work as a team player in a multicultural environment. Empathy, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Knowledge of the Arabic language is a strong advantage.
