Almeead Kuwaiti General Trading and Contracting Co. is actively recruiting for the position of Contract Offshore Physician to work on its offshore facilities in Al Jahra, Kuwait. Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Offshore Physician will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical support and healthcare services to personnel working on offshore installations (such as oil rigs or energy facilities). Key duties include:
- Providing Emergency & Preventive Medical Care: Delivering immediate first aid and medical care for emergencies, illnesses, and injuries occurring on the offshore worksite. This also involves conducting routine health check-ups for crew members.
- Managing the On-Site Medical Clinic: Overseeing the operation of the clinic or medical facility on the offshore installation, ensuring the availability and adequacy of essential medicines and medical equipment, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Emergency Response: Developing and implementing emergency medical response plans, and coordinating with rescue and medevac teams (e.g., helicopter evacuation) when required.
- Occupational Health & Safety: Working closely with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) officers to promote a safe working environment, participating in health risk assessments, and implementing health awareness programs for the crew.
- Reporting & Communication: Preparing detailed reports on medical cases and incidents, and communicating with onshore management regarding cases requiring transfer or further treatment at mainland hospitals.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent from a recognized university. A postgraduate certification in Emergency Medicine, Occupational Health, or Family Medicine is preferred.
- Licensing: The applicant must possess a valid medical practice license from the Kuwait Ministry of Health, or be eligible to obtain one. This is a fundamental and primary requirement.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on clinical experience. Prior experience working as an Offshore Medic/Physician, or within the oil & gas sector, or in remote industrial settings is a significant competitive advantage.
- Mandatory Certifications: Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) or equivalent will be an added advantage.
- Personal Skills: Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations. Excellent communication and listening skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical fitness suitable for working and living in an offshore environment.
- Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English (essential). Knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.

- Work Location: Company offshore installations in Al Jahra, Kuwait.
- Work Schedule: Typically, offshore physicians work on a rotational shift pattern (e.g., 14 days on-site followed by 14 days off), but exact terms will be specified in the contract.
