Country Head / General Manager – Medical Supplies at NANTECH, Bahrain

NANTECH is seeking a high-caliber professional to fill a senior leadership position as Country Head / General Manager specializing in the Medical Supplies sector, to be based at their office in Sitra, Bahrain. This role represents an exceptional opportunity for ambitious professionals with extensive experience in leading and developing business within the vital and dynamic healthcare market of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Country Head / General Manager will hold the central leadership position for NANTECH's commercial operations in the medical supplies field within Bahrain. The focus will be on leading the team to achieve strategic and financial objectives, ensuring sustainable growth and competitive market share.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Developing and executing the comprehensive business strategy for Bahrain, aligning with the company's overall vision and global objectives.
  • P&L Management: Holding full responsibility for the financial performance (Profit & Loss) of the medical supplies division, including achieving sales, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Business Development: Identifying new growth opportunities, expanding the customer base, and strengthening relationships with distributors, hospitals, clinics, and government and private entities in the healthcare sector.
  • Team Leadership: Directing and leading the sales, marketing, logistics, and support teams, nurturing talent, and ensuring a high-performance, motivating work environment.
  • Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining strong strategic partnerships with global and local suppliers, ensuring optimal contract terms and product quality.
  • Compliance & Quality: Ensuring full compliance with local and international health regulations and stringent quality standards across all storage and distribution operations.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Monitoring market trends and analyzing competitive data, preparing detailed periodic reports for senior management on performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Marketing, or Biomedical Sciences. A Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or an advanced management qualification will be a significant advantage.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in sales or management within the medical supplies, medical devices, or pharmaceutical sector, with a proven track record of at least 5-7 years in senior leadership roles (General Manager, Country Manager, Regional Sales Director).
  • Market Knowledge: Deep knowledge of the healthcare sector and medical supplies market in the Kingdom of Bahrain, including an understanding of the regulatory landscape and key operational entities (Ministry of Health, government and private hospitals, medical centers).
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, with a proven history of building high-performance teams and delivering results.
  • Commercial Acumen: Excellent business development, negotiation, key account management, and financial analysis/P&L skills.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent communication (verbal and written), proactive problem-solving, and high adaptability to work in a fast-changing environment.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential. Arabic language skills are a strong advantage.
