Job Description

The Data Protection Specialist will be appointed within the Information Security team and will be responsible for safeguarding the sensitive and critical data handled by the organization. Key Expected Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations (such as the Personal Data Protection Law in the Kingdom) and relevant international standards.
  • Monitor the organization's systems to detect and respond to potential data breaches or security threats.
  • Conduct regular Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and risk assessments.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for data protection matters within the organization.
  • Ensure data processing activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Contribute to employee awareness and training programs on data protection best practices and information security.
  • Review contracts and engagements with third parties (contractors, vendors) to ensure their adherence to data protection requirements.
  • Prepare reports on data protection status and incidents for senior management.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Law (with a focus on technology/privacy law).
  • Recognized professional certifications in data protection and information security are a significant advantage (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CISSP, CISM).

Work Experience:

  • Proven practical experience (typically a minimum of 3-5 years) in data protection, information security, or risk management.
  • Experience in developing data protection policies and compliance procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of data protection regulations like GDPR and the requirements of emerging Saudi regulations in this field.
  • Experience working in highly regulated or critical sectors (e.g., aviation, energy, finance) is a strong advantage.

Personal and Technical Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, and encryption methods.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to assess complex risks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • High integrity and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
