Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Demi Chef De Partie will be stationed in the Cold Kitchen section, a vital department responsible for preparing all cold dishes, juices, salads, appetizers, and non-cooked beverages served in the hotel's restaurants, banquet halls, and room service. The core responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Directly overseeing the preparation and presentation of all cold kitchen items according to Mövenpick's global standards and specified recipes.
  • Assisting in planning and executing cold food menus, including innovative salads, cold appetizers, food platters, and fresh juices.
  • Ensuring the high quality and attractive presentation of every dish served to guests, while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and food safety (HACCP).
  • Managing the daily inventory for the cold kitchen, including ordering, storage, and efficient use of ingredients to minimize waste.
  • Training and supporting Commis Chefs and other section staff to ensure team efficiency.
  • Working closely with the Chef De Partie and the Kitchen Management to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the cold kitchen workstation and equipment at all times.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

To qualify for this position at Mövenpick Hotel in Bahrain, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Proven practical experience of at least 2 years in a similar role (Commis Chef or Junior Demi Chef De Partie) within a Cold Kitchen section of a reputable hotel or upscale restaurant.
  • In-depth knowledge of cold food preparation techniques, vegetable & fruit cutting (julienne, brunoise, etc.), and cold dish presentation.
  • Strong understanding of food safety & hygiene principles (HACCP) and proper storage practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak hours and event periods.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work within a multicultural team.
  • Flexibility to work during day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts as per the hotel's operational schedule.
  • A diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or a related field is a distinct advantage.
  • Proficiency in English for communication is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
