Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The successful teacher in this role will be responsible for the following duties:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver effective and engaging Design & Technology lessons in line with the British curriculum and the school's high standards.
• Teach the subject to students across various key stages, with a focus on successfully preparing A Level students for their examinations.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and practical problem-solving.
• Manage the design workshop/studio safely and efficiently, ensuring full compliance with all health and safety procedures.
• Guide students through the full design process: from research and ideation, to prototyping and final manufacturing.
• Assess and provide constructive feedback on student work, regularly monitoring their academic progress.
• Contribute to Design & Technology-related extracurricular activities, such as clubs or competitions.
• Collaborate with members of the Design & Technology department and teachers from other faculties to enhance the holistic learning experience.
• Participate in school meetings, professional development days, and school events.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Design, Technology, Engineering, or a closely related field. A teaching qualification (such as a PGCE or equivalent) is highly preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience teaching Design & Technology within the British curriculum, particularly at A Level. Previous experience in an international school setting is a strong advantage.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of design principles, manufacturing processes (wood, metal, plastics), and the use of both traditional and digital tools/equipment (e.g., CAD software).
• Personal Skills: A passion for teaching and learning, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
