Computer World W.L.L is actively seeking a qualified Desktop Support Engineer to join its team in Manama, Bahrain. Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Desktop Support Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth daily operation of technical systems. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Direct Technical Support: Resolving hardware and software issues for end-users both in-person and remotely.
  • Hardware Installation & Maintenance: Installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining desktop/laptop computers, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
  • Software & System Management: Installing, updating, and configuring operating systems (e.g., Windows) and office productivity suites, as well as specialized applications.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Diagnosing and resolving issues related to basic local area networking, internet connectivity, user accounts, and access permissions.
  • Inventory & Asset Management: Assisting in the documentation of IT assets and managing inventory of spare parts and equipment.
  • Providing Basic User Training: Guiding users on the proper use of applications and hardware to reduce recurring issues.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with other IT teams (e.g., network, security, systems) to resolve complex problems.
  • Solution Documentation: Creating and updating records of common issues and their resolutions to build a knowledge base.

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Work Experience: Proven hands-on experience of at least 2-3 years in an IT support role or a similar position as a Desktop Support Engineer.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems (10/11, and potentially Windows Server).
    • Strong understanding of computer hardware and assembly.
    • Experience troubleshooting basic networking issues (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi connectivity).
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suites.
    • Familiarity with basic cybersecurity concepts (antivirus, phishing).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Arabic and English.
    • Strong customer service orientation with patience and professionalism when dealing with users.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    • Good time management and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional Certifications (A Plus): Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or other recognized IT support credentials.
