Digital & Shared Business Applications Director at Oman Investment Authority

Oman Investment Authority (OIA), the sovereign wealth fund and primary investment arm of the Sultanate, is announcing a vacancy for the position of Director of Digital & Shared Business Applications at its headquarters in Muscat. This leadership role presents an exceptional opportunity for ambitious professionals to directly contribute to enhancing the technological and digital infrastructure of one of Oman's most crucial financial institutions, supporting its ambitious strategic goals for growth and innovation.

Job Overview and Key Responsibilities

The appointed Director will be responsible for leading, developing the strategy for, and managing the portfolio of digital and shared business applications across the Authority. This role will focus on ensuring technology solutions are aligned with business objectives, enhancing operational efficiency, and enabling data-driven decision-making. Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive vision and strategy for digital and shared business applications, aligned with the Authority's overall strategic plan and digital transformation agenda.
  • Portfolio Management & Development: Oversee the lifecycle of core business applications (e.g., ERP systems, CRM platforms, content management systems, and other shared applications). This includes planning, design, development, deployment, maintenance, and continuous enhancement.
  • Process Optimization & Efficiency: Identify opportunities to improve business processes through optimal utilization of existing applications and adoption of new technological solutions. Lead initiatives to streamline operations, reduce redundancy, and increase productivity across various departments.
  • Performance & Team Management: Lead a specialized team of application developers, business analysts, and project managers. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Vendor & Partnership Management: Manage relationships with software vendors and external technology partners, negotiate contracts, and ensure service delivery meets the highest standards.
  • Governance & Compliance: Establish and enforce business application governance policies and standards. Ensure all systems comply with relevant cybersecurity and data protection regulations locally and internationally.
  • Decision Support: Enable senior management and business units by providing analytical reports and insights derived from application data, supporting strategic planning and decision-making.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this leadership position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or equivalent. A Master's degree (e.g., MBA) or a related technology field is a strong advantage.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 to 15 years of professional experience in Information Technology, with a strong focus on enterprise-level business applications management. This must include at least 5 years in a leadership role (Manager level or above) within a large financial institution, investment firm, or major government entity.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of shared business application platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics), systems integration practices, and software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps). Strong knowledge of digital transformation concepts, AI, big data, and cloud computing.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence executive-level decision-makers.
  • Managerial Skills: Experience in managing large budgets, resource planning, and complex multi-stakeholder projects. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Language: Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
