Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Dimensional Control Engineer will be positioned within the Engineering or Quality Control department, with core responsibility for ensuring dimensional accuracy throughout shipbuilding or repair projects. The primary duties associated with this role include:

• Leading and executing precise dimensional measurement processes for shipbuilding projects using advanced technologies such as 3D Laser Scanning, Total Stations, and traditional precision measurement tools.
• Analyzing dimensional data and comparing it against original engineering drawings and specifications (CAD Models & Engineering Drawings).
• Preparing detailed technical reports that highlight dimensional deviations and proposing corrective solutions for the production and engineering teams.
• Working closely with design and production engineers to ensure dimensional compatibility between various components and large blocks before final installation.
• Developing and improving dimensional control procedures and protocols to enhance quality and efficiency in manufacturing processes.
• Overseeing the calibration and maintenance of measurement tools and equipment to ensure their ongoing accuracy.
• Providing technical support during onboard assembly and installation operations in the shipyard.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
• Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in dimensional control, preferably within the shipbuilding/repair industry, heavy industries (such as oil & gas), or the aerospace sector. Experience in a shipyard environment is a significant competitive advantage.
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in dimensional analysis software (e.g., PolyWorks, SpatialAnalyzer, GOM Inspect) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Practical experience operating advanced metrology equipment (3D Scanners, Laser Trackers, CMMs).
• Personal Skills: Ability to work effectively within a multicultural, multidisciplinary team, excellent communication and reporting skills, high attention to detail and accuracy, and strong problem-solving capabilities under time constraints.
