Job Overview

The Director of Banquets will hold a pivotal role within the hotel's executive management team. This individual will be the primary leader responsible for planning, executing, and managing all banquet, event, and conference operations hosted by the hotel facility. The core objective is to deliver exceptional guest experiences, ensure the highest standards of quality and service, and achieve the financial and revenue targets for the Banquets department.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership: Lead and manage the entire Banquets and Events department, including staffing, training, development, and day-to-day supervision of the team.
  • Quality & Service Management: Ensure all banquets and events are executed in line with Marriott's global brand standards, with a sharp focus on meticulous detail and complete guest satisfaction.
  • Financial Planning & Budgeting: Contribute to the annual departmental budget preparation, monitor revenue and expenses, and take action to achieve financial goals and enhance profitability.
  • Sales & Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with Sales and Marketing departments to develop compelling proposals, participate in client presentations, and build strong relationships with corporate and social event clients.
  • Planning & Execution: Oversee all event phases, from contract negotiation and pre-event logistical planning to seamless day-of execution and post-event evaluation.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure full compliance with all local health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and internal company policies.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Work Experience: Proven experience of at least 5 to 7 years in banquet and event management within luxury 5-star hotel settings, with a track record in leadership positions.
  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field. Specialized certifications in event management are a strong advantage.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional ability to lead and motivate a large, diverse team, with excellent communication and delegation skills.
  • Organizational & Financial Acumen: Superior ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, coupled with a strong understanding of financial principles and budget management.
  • Service Orientation & Attention to Detail: A passion for delivering exceptional hospitality service and an unwavering attention to the fine details that define an experience.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential. Knowledge of the Arabic language is a significant advantage in the Saudi job market.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with hotel/event management software solutions (e.g., Delphi.fdc, Opera).
