Engineer III - Electrical Design (Transmission & Distribution)
NCC T&D is offering a distinguished career opportunity for experienced Electrical Engineers to join their dynamic team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the position of Engineer III - Electrical Design. This critical role focuses on the design and development of high-voltage electrical Transmission & Distribution (T&D) systems, which form the backbone of the Kingdom's power infrastructure.
Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of advanced technical and design tasks within T&D projects. Core responsibilities include:
- Detailed Engineering Design: Preparing and developing complete electrical designs for Substations, Transmission Lines, and Distribution Systems, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Wiring Diagrams, and equipment layout plans.
- Technical Studies & Analysis: Conducting specialized technical studies such as Load Flow studies, Short Circuit studies, Protection Coordination studies, and System Stability studies to ensure efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Equipment Selection & Specification: Defining Technical Specifications for major electrical equipment like Transformers, Circuit Breakers, Isolators, Protection Relays, and Transmission Line towers. Preparing Request for Quotations (RFQs) and reviewing vendor proposals.
- Coordination & Support: Working closely with other engineering disciplines (Civil, Mechanical, Control & Instrumentation) to ensure proper design integration. Providing technical support during the construction, installation, and commissioning phases on-site.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensuring all designs comply with applicable local specifications (e.g., Saudi Electricity Company - SEC standards), international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, ANSI), and safety regulations.
- Design Review & QA/QC: Reviewing and checking designs submitted by contractors or internal teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
To qualify for this specialized role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power & Energy major) from an accredited university. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 6 to 10 years of hands-on experience in the design of electrical Transmission & Distribution systems. Experience must be focused within a consultancy or with a major EPC contractor in power infrastructure projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in relevant engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, PLS-CADD).
- Deep knowledge of high-voltage power system principles and substation equipment.
- Strong understanding of international and local electrical standards and codes.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail and accuracy, strong communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to work effectively within a team and a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Professional Certification: Holding a recognized professional certification (e.g., Professional Engineer - PE) or being in an advanced stage of obtaining one is a significant competitive advantage.
