Engineer III - Planning (Transmission & Distribution)

A leading company in the Transmission and Distribution sector (NCC T&D) is seeking to hire an "Engineer III - Planning" for a position based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Job Description & Responsibilities

The selected engineer will bear core responsibilities in the strategic and operational planning of electrical transmission and distribution networks. They will work in a professional environment that demands precision and proactive thinking to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the power system. Key expected tasks and responsibilities include:

• Network Strategic Planning: Participate in developing long-term and medium-term expansion plans for transmission and distribution networks, in collaboration with engineering and operations teams.
• Network Load Studies: Conduct advanced analyses of current and future network loads, identify bottleneck areas, and propose engineering solutions to enhance capacity and reliability.
• New Project Planning: Contribute to the technical and economic planning of new projects, including substations and transmission lines, to keep pace with demographic and industrial growth.
• Renewable Energy Integration: Study and plan methods for integrating renewable energy projects (such as solar and wind power) with the main electrical grid.
• Preparation of Reports & Technical Documents: Prepare detailed planning reports, business proposals, and technical specification documents required for projects.
• Coordination with Stakeholders: Work closely with internal departments such as Engineering, Procurement, and Operations, as well as with external suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
• Compliance with Standards: Ensure all project plans and proposals comply with applicable local and international standards, regulations, and safety policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power/Energy specialization) from an accredited university. A relevant Master's degree is a distinct advantage.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 7 to 10 years of practical experience in planning electrical transmission and distribution networks, with deep knowledge of their operating principles and equipment.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in power system simulation and analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, CYME, or similar).
  • Knowledge of engineering planning standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC standards).
  • Good understanding of the economic and financial aspects of project planning.
• Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and complex problem-solving abilities, effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work within a team and in a multicultural environment.
• Professional Certifications: International professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Chartered Engineer status) are considered a significant competitive advantage.
