Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The engineer will be responsible for the field and technical supervision of all civil works related to Transmission & Distribution substation projects. The primary duties include:

• Supervision of Execution: Directly supervising all construction and civil work activities on the project site, including excavation, foundations, concrete works, masonry, and grading.
• Quality and Safety Assurance: Ensuring all works are executed in accordance with approved technical specifications, design drawings, and the highest standards of quality and occupational safety. This includes strict adherence to the applicable Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations on site.
• Coordination and Management: Coordinating with the Project Manager, other engineers (electrical, mechanical), subcontractors, and workforce to ensure smooth and efficient workflow. Managing available site resources to achieve objectives within the stipulated timeline.
• Technical Review: Reviewing structural and civil drawings and plans before and during execution, identifying any potential clashes or challenges, and proposing appropriate solutions.
• Documentation and Reporting: Preparing daily and weekly progress reports, recording quantities of work performed, and documenting any site instructions or variations. Contributing to the preparation of test and handover records (QA/QC).
• Problem-Solving: Addressing any technical or execution problems or obstacles that arise on site promptly and working to find practical and effective solutions in collaboration with the team.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Work Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in supervising civil works for major infrastructure projects, with a strong preference for candidates with prior experience in Electrical Transmission & Distribution projects (Substations) or similar utility/infrastructure projects.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction specifications, execution methodologies, construction materials, and local building regulations in Saudi Arabia. Strong familiarity with quality and safety standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA, or SASO standards).
• Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to lead a diverse workforce. Effective communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
• Other Requirements: Previous experience working with major international or regional contracting companies is preferred. Proficiency in basic computer software and engineering design tools (like AutoCAD) is an added advantage.
