Job Description and Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager will hold a critical leadership position within the hotel's organizational structure, bearing direct responsibility for managing and overseeing all activities of the engineering and maintenance department. The core focus of the role is to ensure the seamless and efficient operation of all the hotel's mechanical, electrical, and structural systems, guaranteeing a flawless guest experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Leading, guiding, training, and evaluating the engineering and maintenance team to ensure the delivery of the highest service standards.
  • Facilities Management: Overseeing the complete maintenance and operation of all critical hotel systems, including HVAC, electrical power, plumbing, fire and life safety, security, and communication systems.
  • Preventive Maintenance and Planning: Developing and implementing a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all equipment and facilities to extend their operational life and minimize unexpected breakdowns and costs.
  • Budget and Inventory Management: Preparing the department's annual budget and controlling expenditures. Effectively managing the inventory of spare parts, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensuring all hotel operations and systems comply with local and international safety and environmental regulations. Promoting a strong culture of safety among all team members.
  • Project Management: Planning and supervising renovation and upgrade projects within the hotel, coordinating with senior management and external contractors as needed.
  • Sustainability: Proposing and implementing initiatives to improve energy efficiency and water conservation, contributing to the hotel's environmental and sustainability goals.

Qualifications and Requirements

Four Seasons is looking for a candidate with proven experience and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, detail-oriented, and service-excellence driven environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or equivalent) or a higher technical diploma with comparable experience.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in facilities or engineering management, with a strong preference for experience within the hotel or luxury hospitality sector.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills in managing multicultural teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern building systems and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • A thorough understanding of local safety and environmental codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in the English language (Arabic language skills are a significant advantage).
  • The ability to proactively problem-solve and make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Outstanding organizational and administrative skills.
