Estimation and Costing Engineer - Kuwait

KUWAIT JOBS HERE is actively recruiting for the position of Estimation and Costing Engineer in Kuwait. This role is a critical function within the engineering and construction sector, where the engineer bears direct responsibility for the accurate analysis of costs and resources required to execute engineering projects efficiently and cost-effectively.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The appointed engineer will be responsible for a range of vital tasks that support the project lifecycle, from the tendering phase through to final delivery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing Detailed Cost Estimates: Analyzing project drawings and technical specifications to prepare accurate estimates for initial and operational costs. This involves calculating material quantities (concrete, steel, MEP works, etc.) and estimating labor and equipment costs.
  • Analyzing Vendor and Contractor Bids: Studying and evaluating bids from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and achieve the best possible value.
  • Conducting Financial Feasibility Studies: Contributing to economic feasibility reports for proposed projects, providing analysis on profitability and potential financial risks.
  • Cost Monitoring During Execution: Tracking the actual costs of the project against the approved budget, identifying any variances, and proposing corrective actions.
  • Collaborating with Project Teams: Working closely with project managers, engineers, and designers to accurately understand project requirements and ensure estimation accuracy.
  • Utilizing Specialized Software: Leveraging cost estimation and quantity surveying software (such as MS Project, Primavera, or specialized tools like CostX, Bluebeam) and spreadsheet tools to perform tasks efficiently.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field) from an accredited university.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a similar role (Estimation Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, or Cost Analyst) within the construction or engineering sector in the Gulf region. Experience in the Kuwaiti market is a strong added advantage.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of cost estimation and quantity surveying methodologies.
    • Strong understanding of construction drawings and technical specifications.
    • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel.
    • Familiarity with specialized project management or cost estimation software.
  • Personal Skills:
    • High accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Strong analytical and deductive skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work within a team.
