Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The appointed Facade Engineer will join a dynamic team working on the design, development, and implementation of external building facade systems. The role will be pivotal in ensuring the aesthetic, structural functionality, environmental efficiency, and safety of architectural projects. The core responsibilities expected for this position include:

• Design & Engineering: Participating in the conceptual and detailed design of building facade systems, including glazing, metal composite panels, shading systems, and other modern solutions.
• Structural Analysis: Conducting and analyzing preliminary structural calculations for facade systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and loads (wind, seismic, thermal).
• Coordination & Integration: Working closely with architectural design engineers, structural engineers, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of the facade system with other building components.
• Documentation Preparation: Preparing detailed shop drawings, calculation notes, material specifications, and technical feasibility reports.
• Quality Control & Compliance: Ensuring all designs, materials, and execution comply with relevant local and international specifications applicable in the UAE, such as the Dubai Building Code and pertinent global standards.
• Project Management: Contributing to project scheduling, monitoring costs related to the facade system, and resolving technical issues that may arise during design or construction phases.
• Innovation & Sustainability: Researching new materials and technologies to improve facade performance in terms of thermal insulation, energy efficiency, and maintainability.

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this opportunity in Dubai, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master's degree in Facade Engineering or a specialized field is a strong advantage.
• Work Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 5 years in building facade design and engineering. This experience should include work on large or complex projects, preferably with some exposure in the Gulf region, specifically the UAE.
• Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD.
  • Strong practical experience with 3D modeling and simulation software like Revit and Rhino (with Grasshopper).
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software specific to facades (e.g., Strand7, SAP2000, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of the properties of construction materials used in facades (glass, aluminum, steel, composites).
• Personal Skills: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail and accuracy.
• Professional Certifications: International professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer) or attendance of specialized courses in facade engineering are a significant competitive advantage.
