Factory Manager - Lime Calcination Plant in Muscat, Oman

Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The appointed Factory Manager will be entrusted with the comprehensive and effective management of all aspects of the lime calcination plant's operations. The core focus will be on ensuring production, quality, safety, and profitability targets are met. Detailed responsibilities include:
- Operational Leadership: Directly overseeing all daily plant operations, from the receipt of raw materials (limestone) through the calcination process (burning in high-temperature kilns) to the storage and distribution of the final quicklime (calcium oxide) product.
- P&L and Performance Management: Assuming full responsibility for the plant's financial performance (Profit & Loss), including budgeting, controlling operational costs, optimizing consumption, and enhancing production efficiency to maximize profitability.
- Quality Assurance: Implementing and enforcing stringent quality control standards at all production stages to ensure the final product meets technical specifications and the requirements of target industries and clients (e.g., construction, steel, chemical processing).
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Championing and enforcing a strict "Safety First" culture within the plant environment. This entails full compliance with Omani environmental regulations, accident prevention, and conducting regular equipment maintenance.
- Team Management: Leading and developing the plant workforce, including supervisors, technicians, and operators. Responsibilities encompass training, performance evaluation, and motivating staff to achieve optimal performance.
- Maintenance and Development: Overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance plans for plant equipment and kilns to ensure uninterrupted operation. Proposing and implementing continuous improvement projects to enhance processes and increase production capacity.
- Planning and Logistics: Coordinating with sales, supply chain, and planning departments to ensure a steady flow of raw materials and timely fulfillment of customer orders.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering). A higher degree in Industrial Management or Business Administration would be an added advantage.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 8 to 10 years of hands-on operational management experience within industrial manufacturing plants, with a clear preference for direct experience in the Lime Industry, Cement, Ceramics, or similar industries reliant on thermal processing (Calcination/Kilns).
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate large, multi-disciplinary teams in a challenging industrial environment.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of calcination processes, lime kilns, control systems, and the relevant quality and safety standards specific to this industry.
- Managerial Competence: High proficiency in budget management, financial analysis, strategic planning, and complex problem-solving.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic (written and spoken) for handling technical reports and liaising with suppliers and clients locally and internationally.
