Field Service Engineer - Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine (Tawteen Program - Oman)

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for a range of critical technical and engineering tasks, including:

  • Installation & Commissioning: Supervising the on-site installation of heavy-duty gas turbine units and ensuring their initial commissioning aligns with precise technical specifications and global safety standards.
  • Routine & Preventive Maintenance: Executing scheduled maintenance plans, conducting periodic inspections, and replacing worn or damaged components to ensure operational continuity and optimal turbine efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Analyzing complex mechanical, electrical, and control system failures within the turbines, and providing swift, effective technical solutions to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Technical Support & Training: Providing on-site technical support to turbine operators and technicians. Participating in the training of local personnel to transfer knowledge and enhance national capabilities, which is the core objective of localization programs.
  • Reporting: Documenting all maintenance, repair, and inspection activities in detailed technical reports, and providing recommendations for performance improvement and extended equipment lifespan.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to all applicable occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols on-site and within Oman.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

To be a successful candidate for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or any other relevant engineering discipline.
  • Work Experience: Proven hands-on experience of at least 3 to 5 years in the field servicing and maintaining heavy-duty gas turbines. Experience with major global OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in this field is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of gas turbine operating principles and systems (rotating machinery, combustion, control systems, lube oil systems).
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
    • Proficiency in using specialized diagnostic and measurement tools.
    • Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) systems in industrial settings.
  • Personal Skills: Ability to work under pressure in field conditions, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team, and flexibility to travel and move between work sites within Oman.
  • Professional Certifications: Professional certifications in gas turbine maintenance or industrial safety are a strong added advantage.
