Job Description
The appointed Fire Fighting Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of various firefighting systems. The core duty is to ensure all equipment and systems are fully operational and compliant with local and international standards applicable in the State of Qatar.
Key expected responsibilities and duties include:
- Carrying out installation and commissioning of fixed firefighting systems (e.g., sprinkler systems, alarm systems, gas suppression systems).
- Performing periodic preventive and corrective maintenance on firefighting systems and equipment.
- Troubleshooting and repairing faults in hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical components related to fire suppression equipment.
- Inspecting and testing fire pumps, hydrants, hoses, and portable fire extinguishers.
- Ensuring all work complies with approved fire safety codes (e.g., NFPA, Qatar Civil Defense regulations).
- Preparing technical reports on system status and any maintenance work performed.
- Collaborating with the engineering and safety teams to develop and improve safety procedures.
- Strictly adhering to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols while on duty.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Fire Safety, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and installation of firefighting systems. Experience in the Qatari or GCC market will be a significant advantage.
- Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of firefighting system types (water-based, gas, foam, powder).
- Strong understanding of engineering and electrical drawings.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools and mechanical/electrical maintenance tools.
- Certifications: Possession of recognized professional certifications in fire safety or system maintenance (e.g., NFPA technician certification) will be highly regarded.
- Personal Skills:
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Physical fitness to perform tasks that may require manual labor.
- Other Requirements: Applicants must have a valid residency permit in Qatar and be able to transfer sponsorship, or be willing to relocate to Doha.
