Fire Systems Engineer / Manager in Muscat, Oman

Job Overview
The incumbent in this position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the design, implementation, and maintenance of fire protection systems comply with the most stringent local and international specifications. You will be responsible for overseeing projects related to engineered fire protection systems, ensuring their effectiveness and efficiency in fire prevention and control. This role is critical for maintaining a safe working environment and upholding the company's commitment to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Design & Review: Design and review fire protection system layouts (e.g., alarm systems, automatic suppression, smoke management) for new projects and renovations.
- Implementation Oversight: Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems on project sites, ensuring compliance with approved specifications and regulations.
- Maintenance & Inspection: Develop and implement comprehensive periodic maintenance programs for fire protection systems to ensure their constant operational readiness.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all systems and processes comply with Omani Civil Defence regulations and relevant international standards (e.g., NFPA, BS).
- Team & Contractor Management: Lead and manage an in-house technical team and/or coordinate with system contractors to ensure work is completed on time and to the required quality.
- Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs for employees on fire safety procedures and the use of firefighting equipment.
- Incident Investigation & Improvement: Conduct investigations into fire incidents (if any), perform root cause analysis, and propose corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Reporting: Prepare accurate technical reports and deliver presentations to management on the status of fire protection systems, risks, and recommendations.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Safety, or a related field) from an accredited university.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of practical experience in fire protection systems engineering, with experience in a supervisory or managerial role being a strong advantage.
- Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized professional certifications in fire safety (e.g., CFPS, CFI, or equivalents) is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of fire safety standards and regulations (NFPA, BS, Omani Civil Defence codes), CAD systems, and relevant engineering software.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and management skills, ability to communicate effectively with all technical and management levels, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.
Job Location
The position will be based in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. The role may require visits to various project sites within the Sultanate.
