General Ledger Accountant Job in Abu Dhabi

Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will undertake a range of core tasks and responsibilities within the finance department, including but not limited to:
- General Ledger Management: Primary responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the company's general ledger, including recording all daily, monthly, and closing entries.
- Financial Reporting: Contributing to the preparation of periodic financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) such as the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Reconciliation Processes: Performing regular account reconciliations, including accounts receivable and payable, bank accounts, prepaid and accrual accounts, to ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Period-End Closing: Playing a key role in the monthly and annual financial closing processes, ensuring all necessary procedures and reconciliations are completed on schedule.
- Compliance and Control: Ensuring adherence to the company's internal accounting policies and procedures, as well as relevant tax regulations and laws in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
- Audit Support: Providing necessary support and data to the internal audit team and external auditors during annual audit engagements.
- Data Analysis: Analyzing variances in financial accounts and preparing explanatory reports for management.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CMA, CPA, ACCA) are a significant advantage.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in financial accounting, with proven experience in a similar role (General Ledger Accountant or Financial Accountant). Experience working in a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) or Middle East environment is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Soft Skills: High accuracy and attention to detail, ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, strong analytical skills, and professional integrity and reliability.
- Language: Full professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.
