Job Overview
The General Manager Retail Sales will occupy a pivotal role within the management structure, serving as the primary leader responsible for directing and overseeing all retail sales activities and initiatives under the Authority or its investment portfolio. The core objective is to drive sustainable growth, enhance market share, and lead teams towards achieving ambitious sales targets aligned with the Authority's overarching strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive retail sales strategy to meet financial and developmental objectives.
- Team Leadership: Guide and lead the retail sales team, including regional managers and sales representatives, to ensure peak performance and motivation.
- Business Development: Identify new growth opportunities within the Omani market and develop plans for new market entry or expansion of current products/services.
- Performance Management: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the sales team, monitor performance regularly, and report to senior management.
- Client Relations: Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained and foster strong relationships with key retail partners and distributors.
- Analysis & Planning: Analyze market trends and competitor performance, utilizing data to make informed business decisions.
- Budgeting & Financial Control: Contribute to sales budget preparation and ensure adherence, with a focus on enhancing efficiency and profitability.
Required Qualifications and Skills
This leadership role demands a candidate with deep experience and a proven track record:
- Work Experience: Minimum of 12 to 15 years in the retail sales sector, with at least 5 to 7 years in consecutive senior leadership roles (e.g., Regional Sales Manager, National Sales Manager).
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a recognized leadership qualification is a strong competitive advantage.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate large, diverse teams to achieve challenging targets.
- Strategic Skills: Deep understanding of retail sales strategies, business planning, and market analysis.
- Analytical Skills: Strong capability in analyzing financial data and sales performance to derive actionable insights.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both Arabic and English.
- Local Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the retail environment and market in the Sultanate of Oman and GCC countries is essential.
