This role is pivotal in ensuring the hotel maintains all valid official licenses and approvals, serving as the primary liaison between the hotel and various government entities in the State of Kuwait.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The successful Government Relations Officer will be entrusted with a range of vital tasks and key responsibilities, including:

  • License Management and Renewal: Full responsibility for tracking and renewing all hotel licenses and permits before their expiry dates. This includes municipality licenses, Ministry of Commerce & Industry licenses, Ministry of Interior licenses, civil defense and safety permits, and any other required official clearances.
  • Processing Government Transactions: Handling all formal procedures and transactions with Kuwaiti government departments and authorities on behalf of the hotel, such as the Ministry of Labor, Public Authority of Manpower, security agencies, and Kuwait Municipality.
  • Facilitating Employee Procedures: Following up, issuing, and renewing work permits and residency permits (Civil ID) for the hotel's expatriate staff, in coordination with the Human Resources department and the Ministry of Interior.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the hotel's full compliance with all applicable local laws, regulations, and statutes in Kuwait, and updating management on any new changes that may impact operations.
  • Translation and Liaison Support: Providing support in translating official documents from/to Arabic and accompanying management representatives on official visits to government departments when required.
  • Record Keeping: Safely maintaining and organizing all relevant official documents and correspondence in an orderly and easily retrievable manner.
  • Relationship Building: Developing and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with officials across various government departments to facilitate procedures and resolve any issues that may arise.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

To be a suitable candidate for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Nationality & Residency: Preference will be given to Kuwaiti nationals or residents currently living in Kuwait with a valid residency permit.
  • Work Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years as a Government Relations Officer (PRO) in the State of Kuwait. Previous experience within the hotel or hospitality sector is a significant advantage.
  • Local Knowledge: Deep and comprehensive knowledge of government procedures, local systems, and regulations in Kuwait, including familiarity with the relevant authorities and their workflows.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in Arabic and English. Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Personal Attributes: The candidate must be presentable, tactful, reliable, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
