Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Group Financial Controller will occupy a pivotal role, bearing overall responsibility for the financial operations and reporting of the group's real estate assets and hospitality projects. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Leadership & Oversight: Directing the accounting and finance team, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local Omani regulations.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Preparing accurate, consolidated, and timely financial statements for the group. Conducting financial performance analysis, identifying trends, and providing strategic insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Financial Planning & Budgeting: Leading the annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes. Monitoring performance against budgets and explaining variances.
  • Cash Flow & Capital Management: Overseeing cash flow management, forecasting, and ensuring adequate working capital for real estate and hospitality operations. Evaluating capital investments and new project proposals.
  • Internal Control & Risk Management: Developing and enforcing robust internal financial controls and procedures to safeguard group assets. Identifying and assessing financial risks and formulating mitigation strategies.
  • Compliance & Audit: Serving as the primary liaison with external auditors and ensuring the smooth completion of annual audits. Guaranteeing compliance with all tax and regulatory obligations.
  • Strategic Support: Providing financial and analytical support for strategic decision-making, including potential acquisitions, developments, or exit strategies within the real estate and hospitality sectors.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this leadership opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in financial accounting or financial controlling, with a clear progression into leadership roles. Prior experience within the Real Estate and Hospitality sectors is a mandatory requirement.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep proficiency in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Advanced skills in accounting/finance software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics) and the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Leadership Skills: A proven track record of successfully leading, motivating, and developing finance teams. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.
