Job Overview and Key Responsibilities
The Head of Accounts Receivable holds a pivotal role in safeguarding the university's financial health and the integrity of its revenue operations. The successful candidate will be directly responsible for leading a specialized team and overseeing all activities related to accounts receivable, with a focus on achieving efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with established accounting policies and standards.
Core Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Lead the Accounts Receivable team, delegate tasks, provide technical guidance and support, and ensure the achievement of targets and high-performance standards.
- Revenue Cycle Management: Oversee the entire revenue cycle, from issuing invoices to students and other clients, through follow-up on receivables, to the final recording of collections in the financial system.
- Follow-up & Collections: Develop and implement effective strategies for tracking overdue accounts and ensuring timely collection of dues, while maintaining positive relationships with customers (students, sponsoring entities, etc.).
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare accurate and periodic reports on the status of accounts receivable, collection rates, and potential risks, presenting them to senior management for informed decision-making.
- Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure all departmental operations comply with the university's internal financial regulations, as well as applicable UAE laws and regulations, and foster a strong control environment.
- Process Development & Improvement: Contribute to the development of financial policies and procedures related to accounts receivable, and explore technological solutions to enhance process efficiency and align with global best practices.
- Internal Coordination: Work closely with other university departments such as Admissions & Registration, Academic Affairs, and service departments to ensure the integration and accuracy of financial data.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited university. Advanced professional certifications (e.g., CMA, CPA, ACCA) are a significant advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in financial accounting, with a strong focus on accounts receivable management. This must include at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in computer applications and accounting software (e.g., ERP systems like Oracle, SAP), and spreadsheets (Advanced Excel).
- Personal Skills & Leadership Abilities:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards goal achievement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
- High analytical ability to interpret financial data and provide recommendations.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local practices.
