HSE Officer - OSHAD Certified Job in Abu Dhabi

Desert Group Investment LLC is actively recruiting for the position of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi. This role presents a significant opportunity for qualified professionals seeking to join a dynamic work environment and contribute to upholding the highest standards of occupational health, safety, and environmental practices, in full compliance with the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHAD) framework.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed HSE Officer will work within a specialized team and will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all applicable local HSE regulations, with a particular focus on the OSHAD framework. The core responsibilities of this role include:

  • Development & Implementation: Contributing to the development, implementation, and continuous updating of the company's HSE policies, procedures, and management systems to ensure ongoing alignment with OSHAD requirements and other relevant local and international regulations.
  • Risk Assessment & Management: Conducting regular risk assessments across the group's various work sites. Identifying potential hazards in operations and providing practical recommendations for their control and mitigation.
  • Training & Awareness: Designing and delivering training and awareness programs for all employees and contractors on proper HSE practices, emergency response, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Inspection & Monitoring: Performing comprehensive periodic inspections and audits of work sites, equipment, and processes to ensure adherence to safety standards. Documenting findings and preparing follow-up reports.
  • Reporting & Investigation: Investigating incidents, accidents, and near-misses to analyze their root causes. Preparing detailed reports and providing actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Legal Compliance: Monitoring changes in HSE-related legislation and regulations within Abu Dhabi and the UAE, and ensuring company practices are updated accordingly.
  • Emergency Management: Assisting in the development and testing of emergency response plans and ensuring team and resource readiness for various incident scenarios.
  • Liaison: Acting as a key point of contact with regulatory bodies such as the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHAD) regarding HSE matters.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial), Environmental Science, or any HSE-related field.
  • Professional Certifications: A valid certification from the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHAD) is a mandatory prerequisite. Additional international certifications such as NEBOSH IGC or IOSH Managing Safely will be a strong advantage.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in the HSE field, with proven experience in applying OSHAD requirements. Experience within real estate investment, construction, infrastructure, or diversified investment groups is preferred.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of local HSE systems and procedures in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, specifically the OSHAD framework. Understanding of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards is beneficial.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Strong analytical and report-writing abilities. The capacity to work independently and as part of a team. Effective training and facilitation skills.
  • Personal Attributes: A proactive leader with a keen eye for detail, capable of enforcing safety compliance while maintaining positive working relationships.
