Job Overview

The appointed ICS Technician will work on automation and control systems used in industrial environments. These systems, which include Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, form the backbone of operations in sectors such as oil & gas, power, water, and manufacturing. The technician plays a crucial role in ensuring these systems operate reliably, safely, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial control systems and associated equipment.
• Install, configure, and test components of new or modified ICS systems under the guidance of engineers.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults in electrical and electronic circuits, sensors, actuators, and control units.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and system documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers and plant operators to implement control system modifications or improvements.
• Strictly adhere to industrial safety protocols and applicable environmental regulations in Qatar.
• Accurately document and report all maintenance and repair work.
• Provide technical support during plant operations and planned shutdowns.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, or a related technical field. Extensive practical experience may be an acceptable substitute in some cases.
• Proven hands-on experience of at least 3 to 5 years in maintaining and installing Industrial Control Systems (ICS/SCADA/PLC/DCS).
• Practical knowledge of various sensor types (pressure, temperature, flow), valves, and actuators.
• Excellent electrical and electronic troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an industrial environment that may require shift work or travel to various sites.
• Good knowledge of the English language for reading and comprehension (to handle technical documentation). Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
• Strong awareness of safety principles in industrial facilities (e.g., explosion-proof safety, confined space work, etc.).
