Installation & Commissioning Engineer for Lighting Control Systems

Quadrangle is seeking to hire an Installation & Commissioning Engineer for Lighting Control Systems in Qatar. Job Description and Responsibilities

The engineer will be responsible for the technical and applied aspects of lighting control systems, from pre-installation through to final handover and commissioning. Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and Preparation: Reviewing electrical and system schematics, understanding specific project requirements, preparing installation plans, and ensuring all necessary materials, equipment, and tools are available before work commencement.
• Field Installation: Leading and executing the physical installation of lighting control system components, including control panels, sensors (motion, occupancy), smart switches, controllers, and lighting fixtures (LED, etc.), ensuring all electrical connections are correct, safe, and compliant with the highest standards.
• Programming and Configuration: Programming system controllers (such as DALI, KNX, or other specialized systems) according to design specifications. This involves setting lighting scenes, schedules, dimming levels, and integrating the system with building automation if required.
• Commissioning and Testing: Conducting initial commissioning and comprehensive testing of the entire system to ensure integrated and efficient operation. This includes testing all functionalities, troubleshooting and rectifying faults, and ensuring compatibility between all components.
• Handover and Training: Handing over the finalized system to the client or project manager, and providing training sessions for end-users or maintenance staff on system operation and management.
• Documentation: Preparing technical reports and documenting installation procedures, programming settings, and any system modifications for future maintenance purposes.
• Quality and Safety Assurance: Strict adherence to electrical safety standards, local Qatari building codes, and manufacturer specifications to ensure work quality and longevity.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical engineering field. Holders of a high-level technical diploma with extensive experience may be considered.
• Practical Experience: Proven hands-on experience of at least 3 to 5 years in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Lighting Control Systems or related building automation systems. Experience on projects in Qatar or the GCC is a significant advantage.
• Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical principles and low-voltage systems.
  • Practical experience with lighting system protocols such as DALI, KNX, or 0-10V.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and engineering drawings.
  • Strong electrical/electronic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) will be a priority for the candidate.
• Personal Skills: Ability to work independently and in a team, good communication skills (verbal and written), discipline and precision in work, and the ability to handle field work schedules and pressures to meet project deadlines.
• Other Requirements: A valid driver's license is often required for travel between project sites.
