Instrumentation Supervisor (Hydraulic & Pneumatic Offshore)

Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The successful supervisor will be stationed at an offshore site and will be directly responsible for overseeing maintenance and operational activities related to instrumentation and control systems, with a focused expertise on hydraulic and pneumatic components. Key responsibilities include:
- Technical Supervision: Lead and direct teams of technical maintenance personnel specializing in instrumentation, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on the offshore site.
- Maintenance & Diagnostics: Ensure the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance for measurement and control systems, control valves, actuators, pumps, and hydraulic/pneumatic circuits in compliance with the highest safety and quality standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to and enforce all offshore safety procedures (e.g., Safe Work Practices, Work Permits, Isolation) to ensure a zero-incident work environment.
- Planning & Coordination: Coordinate with operations and planning departments to schedule maintenance activities without impacting productivity, and ensure the availability of necessary spare parts and tools.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex faults in hydraulic, pneumatic, and associated instrumentation systems, and propose and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Training & Development: Provide hands-on guidance and training to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge of offshore systems.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare accurate technical reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, and any incidents or deviations, ensuring technical records are kept up-to-date.
Requirements & Qualifications
To qualify for this technical leadership role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electro-mechanical, Mechanical, Instrumentation) or a related technical field.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in instrumentation and control maintenance/installation, with at least 5 years of documented experience in Offshore oil and gas facilities.
- Specialized Expertise: Strong, proven hands-on experience with Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems, including valves, actuators, pumps, high-pressure circuits, and their associated control systems.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of relevant international standards (e.g., IEC, ISA, API) and stringent offshore safety procedures.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a technical team in a multicultural, high-pressure work environment.
- Professional Certifications: Mandatory offshore safety certifications such as (HUET, BOSIET) or equivalents are a significant advantage and often a requirement.
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, decision-making ability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Language: Proficiency in English for technical communication and reporting. Knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.
Work Location & Conditions
This is a Full-time position with the primary work location being offshore energy facilities in Qatar. This type of role typically involves a rotational shift pattern (e.g., several weeks on-site followed by leave) and requires travel between shore and the offshore site via boat or helicopter. Candidates must be medically fit to work in such environments.
