Job Description
The appointed Instrumentation Technician will be based at the company's project sites or maintenance facilities. The core focus of the role will be to ensure the optimal and accurate operation of measurement and control instrumentation systems, which are vital components in modern industrial and construction operations.
Key responsibilities and duties are expected to include:
- Performing installation, commissioning, calibration, and routine/preventive maintenance on various control and measurement systems and devices (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters, and control valves).
- Troubleshooting and repairing faults in associated electrical, electronic, and pneumatic circuits related to instrumentation.
- Reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), electrical schematics, and manufacturer documentation.
- Using specialized calibration and testing equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and system performance.
- Recording data and preparing reports on instrument status and maintenance activities performed.
- Strictly adhering to all applicable site and company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures.
- Collaborating with engineering teams and other maintenance technicians (electrical, mechanical) to complete tasks efficiently.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this critical technical role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma or equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and installation of control and measurement instrumentation, preferably within the contracting, oil & gas, or industrial utilities sectors.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong practical knowledge of various instrumentation devices (analyzers, pressure, temperature, flow) and control systems (PLC basics).
- Proficiency in using electronic calibration and testing tools.
- Ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings.
- Personal Skills:
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to work, sometimes outside standard hours if required by project demands.
- Other Requirements: Proficiency in the English language (reading, writing, speaking) is essential for handling technical documentation and communicating within an international team. Previous work experience in Qatar or the GCC region will be a distinct advantage.
