IRATA Certified Blaster Painters Jobs in Qatar
A leading and specialized industrial contracting and technical services company in the State of Qatar has announced openings for the position of "IRATA Certified Blaster Painter". This opportunity arises from the company's expansion in executing major projects within the oil & gas, energy, and infrastructure sectors, which require high-quality painting and protective coating work in industrial and commercial environments.
Job Description and Responsibilities
The certified technicians will be assigned to work within specialized teams responsible for abrasive blasting and coating applications on industrial facilities and steel structures, often at heights or in difficult-to-access areas. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing professional abrasive blasting (sandblasting/grit blasting) operations to remove rust, old paint, and prepare metal surfaces according to precise technical specifications (e.g., SSPC or NACE standards).
- Applying coats of paint and protective materials (epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich, etc.) using appropriate equipment such as airless or conventional spray systems.
- Strict adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures, especially when working at heights using rope access equipment in compliance with IRATA standards.
- Inspecting surfaces before and after operations to ensure the quality of surface preparation and coating application.
- Maintaining the equipment and tools used in the processes and cleaning the work area upon completion.
- Working collaboratively with supervisors and other technicians to ensure tasks are completed within the specified schedule and required quality standards.
- Reading and understanding work plans and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Key Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Valid IRATA Certification: A mandatory requirement is a valid International Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) Level 1 certification. Higher-level certifications (Level 2 or Level 3) are a strong advantage.
- Practical Experience: Proven experience of at least 3 years in industrial blasting and painting, preferably within the oil & gas sector or major industrial projects.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of surface preparation standards (SSPC/NACE), painting techniques, and the properties of various protective coatings.
- Physical Fitness: High level of physical fitness to work in potentially challenging conditions, at heights, and for extended periods.
- Safety-First Mindset: Unwavering commitment to a safety culture, with comprehensive knowledge of safe work procedures and Permit to Work systems.
- Personal Skills: Ability to work within a team, reliability, attention to detail, and discipline.
- Residency in Qatar: The company prefers candidates already residing in Qatar with a transferable work permit (QID).
