Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The IT Backup Administrator will be integrated into the Infrastructure and Operations team. The core mission is to ensure business continuity by designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting the company's data backup and recovery strategies. The direct responsibilities for this position include:
- Design and Implement Backup Strategies: Develop and implement comprehensive, reliable backup plans for all critical data and systems, including servers, databases, and applications.
- Manage Daily Backup Operations: Oversee scheduled backup jobs, monitor their success or failure, and take immediate corrective action when necessary.
- Test Data Recovery: Conduct regular and periodic data recovery tests to validate the effectiveness and readiness of backup strategies in case of emergencies or data loss.
- Maintain and Develop Backup Systems: Manage and maintain backup hardware and software (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup), ensuring they are properly updated and configured.
- Documentation and Reporting: Clearly document all backup procedures and policies. Prepare regular reports on backup status and compliance with company standards.
- Collaboration with IT Teams: Work closely with network, security, and server teams to ensure backup systems integrate seamlessly with the overall infrastructure and meet information security requirements.
- Incident Response: Play a key role in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) plans by providing rapid restoration of data and systems following any incident.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be a successful candidate for this role within a dynamic environment like NAFFCO, you should meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role (Backup Administrator, Systems Administrator, Storage Administrator) within a corporate environment.
- Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of backup systems and tools such as Veeam Backup & Replication, Commvault, or Veritas NetBackup.
- Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
- Experience with storage area network management (SAN, NAS).
- Knowledge of networking and information security concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and cloud backup is a significant advantage.
