Lead HSE Advisor - Projects in Oman

Job Description and Responsibilities
The Lead HSE Advisor will hold a strategic position, responsible for leading and implementing HSE systems and procedures across a portfolio of projects. Their core focus will be on preventing accidents, injuries, and environmental damage, while ensuring full compliance with local and international legislation and the company's internal policies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and implementation of project-specific HSE management strategies and systems.
- Conducting regular risk assessments and safety reviews at project sites.
- Overseeing the implementation of all safe work practices and safety programs.
- Guiding and monitoring project teams and contractors to ensure adherence to HSE standards.
- Investigating incidents and near misses to identify root causes and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Designing and delivering effective training programs to promote a strong safety culture among all employees and workers.
- Preparing periodic reports on safety performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management.
- Staying abreast of the latest HSE legislation, codes of practice, and industry best practices.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this leadership role, the candidate must possess a strong combination of academic qualifications and practical experience.
Essential Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical) or Environmental Science, or a related safety field.
- A recognized professional certification in Health and Safety (such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent) is a significant advantage.
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of practical experience in HSE management, with a strong focus on a project environment (e.g., Construction, Oil & Gas, Energy, Infrastructure).
- Proven experience in leading and managing safety teams.
- In-depth knowledge of global safety management systems (like OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001) and relevant Omani regulations.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex situations.
- Leadership skills and the ability to influence and inspire others to adopt a safety-first culture.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite and reporting applications.
