Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Lead Planner will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective planning and precise schedule control for the company's major projects in Kuwait. The core responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the project planning and scheduling team.
- Preparing and analyzing comprehensive project programs using advanced planning software (such as Primavera P6) and project management methodologies.
- Continuously monitoring project progress, identifying any deviations from the planned schedule, and proposing preventive and corrective actions.
- Preparing periodic and ad-hoc project performance reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and potential risks.
- Collaborating closely with Project Managers, and heads of engineering, construction, and logistics departments to ensure integrated work plans.
- Overseeing the development of procurement, manpower, and equipment schedules aligned with project phases.
- Providing technical support during the tender phase by preparing realistic preliminary programs.
- Ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards in all planning and reporting activities.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field. A postgraduate degree would be an added advantage.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in planning and scheduling for major construction projects, with a proven focus on infrastructure, marine works, or oil & gas projects.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 is a mandatory requirement. Knowledge of MS Project and advanced Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, with excellent communication and persuasion skills.
- Analytical Skills: Superior ability to analyze complex data, foresee problems, and develop practical solutions.
- Language: Excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic is a beneficial asset in the Kuwaiti job market.
