Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Lifting Engineer will occupy a critical role, ensuring all lifting operations are carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lift Planning and Design: Developing detailed lift plans and method statements for complex lifting operations, including the hoisting of massive equipment and structural components on project sites.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring full compliance with all local and international safety regulations (such as LOLER, Qatari standards) and company-specific safe work procedures.
  • Equipment Inspection and Supervision: Conducting periodic and random inspections of lifting equipment (e.g., tower cranes, mobile cranes, winches, slings, chains) and certifying their fitness for use. Providing direct on-site supervision during critical lifts.
  • Training and Guidance: Offering technical guidance and briefing to crane operators and field crews on safe lifting procedures. Contributing to the development of a strong safety culture.
  • Coordination and Risk Management: Working closely with project managers, construction engineers, and subcontractors to coordinate lifting activities. Identifying and assessing potential hazards and developing mitigation plans.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of all inspection reports, equipment certificates, and lift plans. Preparing technical reports on any incidents or non-conformances.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Professional Certifications: A recognized certification in Lifting Engineering or Lifting Equipment Management (e.g., CPCS Appointed Person, LEEA, or equivalent). Knowledge of international lifting regulations is mandatory.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of practical experience in a Lifting Engineer or similar role, preferably within the oil & gas, industrial construction, power, or major infrastructure sectors.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of various types of lifting equipment, their capabilities, and related calculations. Proficiency in relevant engineering design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, lift simulation software).
  • Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written). Strong leadership and decision-making abilities under pressure. Meticulous attention to detail. Robust problem-solving skills.
  • Other Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is a distinct advantage. The candidate must be eligible to obtain a work permit in the State of Qatar.

Work Location and Environment

The primary work location will be Doha, Qatar, with necessary travel to various project sites within the country.
