Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The appointed Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the maintenance strategy and operations across the Group. Given the multi-site nature of the operations in different Bahraini cities, centralized leadership and effective coordination will be paramount. The expected responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop & Implement Maintenance Strategy: Formulate comprehensive proactive and preventive maintenance plans for all Group assets and equipment across various sites, aiming to minimize downtime and maximize operational lifespan.
  • Leadership & Supervision: Lead the maintenance team, which may include technicians and supervisors, allocate tasks, provide technical guidance, and ensure adherence to the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Budget & Cost Management: Prepare the maintenance department budget and control operational expenditures, including spare parts, equipment, and external contractor costs, while striving for financial efficiency.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance operations and related activities comply with local Bahraini regulations and occupational safety standards (such as HSE), and implement regular training programs for the team.
  • Contractor & Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and monitor the performance of external contractors and suppliers for specialized maintenance services or spare parts procurement.
  • Project Planning: Oversee major upgrade or refurbishment projects for existing assets, coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth execution.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to senior management on the maintenance department's performance, asset status, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and improvement proposals.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A higher degree or project management certifications (e.g., PMP) would be an added advantage.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in maintenance management, with at least 3 years in a similar leadership role (Maintenance Manager or Head of Maintenance). Experience in diverse industrial or operational environments is highly valued.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of maintenance systems (preventive, corrective, predictive), and a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems equipment.
  • Leadership & Managerial Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a multi-disciplinary team, with excellent communication and negotiation skills. The candidate must possess the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Language: Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is a significant advantage for dealing with the local team and suppliers.

Work Location

Your primary workplace will be in the Kingdom of Bahrain, with necessary travel required between the Group's main sites in Manama, Sitra, and Hidd as per business needs. These locations reflect the geographical diversity of the Group's activities and require mobility and flexibility.
